From begging to thriving.<\/h1>\n

A story of Ms. Shwetha, 11-year-old girl from Ekalavyanagar, Mysore. Shwetha was born to the underprivileged section of the society. Her parents forced her to go out begging and earn about Rs.500 to Rs.700 every day.<\/p>\n

Team Prerepana's counselling session with her parents was not fruitful. They were adamant about her not stopping the begging as she was a source of good income. Team Prerepana registered a complaint with the CWC (Child Welfare Committee). She was hidden by her parents. But the committee did not give up.<\/p>\n

The Prerepana staff were alerted when she was spotted. Our team was successful in convincing her parents to join her to a school. Young Shwetha was admitted to a Residential School. She won the First place in English Rhymes, Running race and Memory test. Poverty is not just lack of money. It is not having the capabilities to realize one's full potential as a human being.<\/p>\n

To improve the lives of underprivileged and lead them towards sustainable development NR Foundation's Project Prerepana initiated Common Service Centre (CSC). <\/p>\n

CSCs are the access point for essential public utility services such as social welfare schemes, health care, financial, education, and agriculture services. CSCs are positioned as change agents; they enable community participation and collective action for social change through a 'bottom-up' approach with a key focus on the local and rural citizens. <\/p>\n

Today we are proud to share about Mr. Mahesh (Local Youth), CSC Proprietor of Ekalavyanagar slum. The Centre inaugurated by project staff on 01\/07\/2020. The NR Foundation provided Laptop and a Biometric tool as a token of appreciation. With the NR Foundation support, Mr. Mahesh, a highly motivated youth, he himself invested around Rs. 95.000 for his new venture. <\/p>\n

Today we are talking about Ms. Pankaja, born visually challenged residing in Ramnathpura, Karnataka with her husband, Krishnamurthy & son, Santosh. Right from her childhood, she faced innumerable challenges which have made her a strong woman today. With no education and financial support, she had to work very hard to make a living, making her realise the importance of education. <\/p>\n

She enrolled into first grade at Rangarao Memorial School for the Differently Abled (RMSD) in1989 and studied till grade 7, 1996. She is part of the first batch of students at our school. She later moved to a different city to pursue her high school education. Her dream of being financially independent was realised in 2012, when Ms. Pankaja started a small canteen called 'Santhosh Tiffanies'<\/b>. <\/p>\n

A refrigerator & a grinding machine to support her business was provided by NRFoundation. Today, as a confident and an independent woman, she has immense gratitude towards NRGroup for the support she received. At RMSD, apart from regular school curriculum, the girls are also taught life-skills and basic cooking. Right from her childhood she was interested in cooking and learnt the art of cooking at RMSD. Ms. Pankaja has made cooking her profession and is now able to lead a dignified and independent life. She is an active member of SHG Movement. Rangarao Memorial School for the Differently Abled (RMSD) -Educate, Empower and Enable visually impaired girls.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To achieve Financial self-sustainability NRF's Project Prerepana promotes Self Help Groups (SHG) which meet the savings and credit requirements of underprivileged communities. <\/p>\n

Ms. Rehana Banu of KSCB colony, Mysuru is the first representative of Bismilla SHG imparted by the Prerepana Project. A widow with six children, she was going through a tough time in life. She took Rs. 10,000\/- internal loan from SHGs and started a small Kirana store. Now With good earnings daily, Ms. Rehana Banu not only leads a self-reliant life but also repays the loan regularly.<\/p>\n

'For me, RMSD is more than a school; it's my Tavaru Mane (maternal home). In RMSD the bond between teacher and student is the same as mother and child. Along with academic lessons I learnt life skills, principles for life and more...you could say that my character was shaped at RMSD. Whatever I have achieved today is because of our RMSD teachers and NR Foundation. I would like to thank Guru Sir, Murthy sir, all my teachers and everyone associated with RMSD.', says Vidya. <\/p>\n

\nVidya studied at Rangarao Memorial School for the Differently Abled (RMSD) from 1993 to 2000. She then did her High School in Victoria, Diploma from JSS and Graduated from Mysore Open University. In 2016, she worked as a computer faculty in RMSD. <\/p>\n

\nToday, Vidya works as a front desk helper in SBI, Shivamogga. Vidya lives in Shivamogga with her husband and daughter. Vidya is visually impaired. <\/p>\n
